Fear programming. Fear bombardment through the MSM reduces the ability to reason. A common command throughout the bible is "fear not".
Perhaps this is why.
The thing with fear is, it only works temporarily. At some point people get tired of being afraid and stop giving a crap. During WWII air raids in London families were having picnics on rooftops because nobody cared anymore. That moment is close with China virus and it'll bring the whole thing crashing down.
