Except not everyone believes that or needs to, in order to participate in the promise of America
There's no one religion in this country, thanks to the First Amendment
Patriots of all beliefs, however, can pledge allegiance to the same flag, which is allegiance to the idea of America, that people have the [God-given] right to be free to chart their own destiny as long as they don't infringe on others. The Golden Rule.
I have no way to enforce that everyone believe as I, that would be dumb.
I do not care what others believe as it does not affect me one bit. I want to save my nation though and I was given a promise that if I want to save it that I can turn to God from my old, wicked, ways of self worship and instead focus on the Creator. You might not believe in a Creator and for you I am sad because you are missing out. You might not believe in Faith, and for you I am sad because you are missing out. I know that I have someone that I can talk to about all my problems and concerns without it spreading amongst my friend group. I know when I Pray that which is Above me hears me. I am gladdened that He which is Above doesn't grant me everything I want because it would only serve to spoil me, but provides everything that I need. I like having the Word because it warned me about so much in the world around me that I might have latched on to or joined considering it "normal" or "necessary" only to have my own heart ripped apart by itself when it realized how bad it was. I haven't always been this deep in my Faith but I have tested it! I am grateful to be able to test my Faith. If we are to believe the words of Jesus Christ, there is not one physical action that you can preform nor a multitude that can make anything happen but through Faith anything is possible. I am grateful for a hidden God so that I am not tempted to waste my hard earned money on useless trinkets that only serve as a means to manufacture Faith that doesn't last and line the pockets of the Liars that sell such. Snake Oil!
I do not know who wouldn't like Jesus this hard if they knew what he had done for all of man kind. Maybe check it out. Salvation is freedom from being a slave, which is why Jesus Christ had to come to fulfill the law (to perfection). All man was a slave before, something claimed power and authority over them if they knew it or not. Jesus came in and said NOPE! I am King of the World and all that follow me are free. You can be Free under Christ or you can continue to serve man at every corner. I cannot make that decision for anyone but myself. I am greatful for a God that can enforce his own laws and doesn't require man's physical intervention. If man could ever figure that out we have a real chance at an enjoyable life for all on the planet and not just a select few!
Yeah, some people simply can't wrap their wits around the fact that not everyone believes that the stuff a few men in the Middle East wrote down five thousand years ago is holy just because they said so.
Doesn't mean it can't be perfectly fine for individuals to base their own lives on. People all over the world base their lives on a variety of so-called holy books, and many seem happier for it. But forcing it on others and making them pledge to it would be sort of the opposite of what the First Amendment says.

I don't think Flynn did anything wrong here
Without God, The Father, there is NO PROMISE!
Whom made it possible?
The flag?
That's a belief based on faith, not a statement of fact based on objective, observable reality. Do you require that everyone believe as you do?
