This reminds me of when Queen Elizabeth visited my town. I heard she would be appearing at a particular state capital building and I hopped on my bike to ride 10 blocks to see her (figured vehicle traffic would be a nightmare). Everyone in the crowd was watching her thru the viewfinder of their cellphone. I simply took a look at the queen…yep! That’s her…and rode away without a pic. Story is the same every time…picture or no pic. I saw her with my own two eyes…and that was that.
Well done. You chose to be present in that moment
The best part is that you're one of those special people that have the ability to remember. It's a powerful tool I fear humanity is losing.
Agreed.
This reminds me of my ride back home from Sturgis, SD. On the way there I rode up into Yellowstone through the South entrance and exited out the East exit going towards Cody, WY. I stopped for a pic or two impressed with the landscape. The way home though I rode the most beautiful highway I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Yellowstone’s North entry, Beartooth Hwy. That Hwy and it’s majestically prehistoric views captivated my eyes and my heart. The beauty and scale was so incredibly grand. I took it in reverently, purposely not stopping for any pics or recordings. Pics could never do justice to it’s beauty no matter how big a print you put them on. I can see it now crystal clear in my mind’s eye. A pleasure to my soul with every remembrance. Thank you Lord! I see you all around us but nowhere more than there.
Beartooth and crazy mountains are neat.
I believe its another psy op of consumer tech giants to redefine what a meaningful experience-rich life means and how preservation of shared experiences happens for humans.
Yes "recording" can be "evidence" to exonerate or implicate a certain person or event over against hearsay... but that's still a massive tradeoff for society to choose to be a voluntary, mass inter-surveilled-and-data-gathering-society... which reall boils down to being way more manageable.
