I don't know a whole lot about Sly, but I do know his first "feature film" was a "softcore porno" called "The Party at Kitty and Stud's", later rebranded as "The Italian Stallion".
Here's a link to the Wikipedia page where we see this film was written, directed and PRODUCED by one Morton Lewis. Quite the auteur! It was distributed by "Italian Stallion Productions" (I smell a front) and Cinema Epoch.
Couple of takeaway hunches:
Knowing what we know about how the system works and how Stars Are Born, I'd say Mr. S has seen some shit. If one was Stranger Than Fiction minded, one could plausibly believe Rocky wearing a Q Hat, tweeting about "The Storm" while having someone in the background conspicuously holding up a "'Get away from me!' hand" and a book entitled "Every Last Secret" trade paperback is, in fact, comms.
I bet there's dirt to dig on M. Lewis and company.

Curiouser and curiouser.
