Thanks to God, I could achieve what I vowed since the beginning of the last weekend: no booze, no meat, no dessert. I am holding the line!
Remember: it’s always darkest just before dawn!🙏🏻

Nice job!
I'm not really "following" anyone these days, but I applaud your efforts, especially if it offers you spiritual growth.
God bless you. You’re in my prayers and He certainly listens🥰
Thanks Fren!🤗 God bless you too! 🙏🏻
I applaud your effort, and wish you well on holding strong the next couple weeks. As a note: I switched to an all-meat diet last year. Meat, salt ,water, and recommend all pedes try. I am at my peak physical and mental performance.
when you start wearing gym shorts between your boxers and pants, just incase...
Hahaha MVP idea right there.
Crazy. I never got that bad. The first couple weeks were rough. Took about 6 months until my body has fully adjusted.
All carbs are actually not very healthy to your body. It may lead to insulin resistance.
Why?
To prove oneself he still has Faith and Will in his heart. To increase the anticipated joy before Christmas and also to unload the brain pleasure center so they readjust themselves to lighter loads. There’s plenty of reasons why someone could fast. It’s an ordeal.
why no meat? if anything only meat with salt and water. Plants are quite chemically diverse/complex/poisonous.
Jordan Peterson is a great example. Tried it for 2 weeks in 2019 to think clearly. Seemed to work great.
Because I love it, like alcohol, and like this pinch of sweetness ending a meal. I am denying myself any solace I’d otherwise find in food.
Also, not cooking meat will make me be more creative in the kitchen. I currently cook soufflés, curries, gratins…
Rock on.
Some people fast food altogether. It's not a diet, it's a giving up for a short period.
The Sisters and Brothers (Nuns and Monks) used to refer to is as “the mortification of the flesh”. It is most usually associated with the Easter season, the Lenten abstinence from meat and sweets as a self-sacrifice leading up to the Easter feast and celebration of the resurrection. Self denial during the Advent season is less common but no less valid or valuable. Both seasons should be a time for the expression of charity as well. Charitable acts and the mortification of the flesh remind us of our duty to our brothers and sisters, our duty to our faith and the transitory nature of our lives.
I applaud OPs devotion.
hm, I'm not particularly religious but i agree with this sentiment. I'll have to think of something. I already dont drink, need to eat meat or my health issues get worse (I'm looking at how to reduce it though), also no dessert since i no longer visit france or germany :P. I could skip the weed/masturbation, i can pray&meditate on waking. Lets start there.
There is a pretty good homily hidden in the replies to this thread.
Deny yourself for The LORD!!! I gotta get on this!
