I think that the very first insult to American trust was when JFK was assassinated. Suddenly everything we took for granted, especially peace and safety here at home, was revealed as a fallacy. It shook all generations at the time. And every major event after that, from Nixon to loss of the Vietnam War only served to eroded public trust even further.
Well it was a very different time, as I said. Dems and Republicans could agree to disagree on many things, vote differently in congress, and go out for drinks afterwards and tell jokes to each other. Party loyalty was real, but at the end of the day, they were all Americans.
All that changed around the Clinton era and got more divided with subsequent presidents. Somewhere along the way it became nasty and radicals took over the Demwit Party.
By the time Obama came about, the battle lines were being drawn, and now we have what we have today. Few people can remember what it used to be like in those days.
JFK won the presidency and Americans accepted it and moved on. His assassination affected every American deeply. I remember the Sunday after he was assassinated our Baptist church held a prayer vigil, even though nearly everyone there was a Republican.
I suppose we should be praying for Joe biden... I don't like the dude, and I suspect he's dirtier than the sheets at a whorehouse, but he's still the leader of the nation...
Normally I would say you're right, and no, I don't wish Joe any bad things, he's just what he is, an older person in steep decline, who has been put in an untenable situation. But I don't think he's "leader of the nation" right now. Someone (or several someones) is guiding his every move.
On a daily basis, I suspect it is a ring of dedicated socialists with the cooperation of Jill Biden. On the larger scale, though, I suspect it's the Chinese Communist Party.
I have been loosely following the videos of Majestic Eyes Only and his interpretation of Q drops, and relating them to the DOD "Law Of War" Manual. I think he's on to something in his relentless but thorough analysis. In his analysis he links the various sections in the Manual to events in DC and with what he regards as an occupying force.
If his analysis is correct -- and it sounds highly plausible to me -- then Joe goes from being a bumbling geezer who deserves our pity, to a puppet of a foreign power, namely the CCP. If you haven't followed the finding of Majestic Eyes Only, I encourage you to do so. At least watch the first one here:

If that one intrigues you, I would recommend you read the entire "Devolution" series by Patel Patriot, here: https://www.devolution.link/
Taken together, both these series (Majestic Eyes Only and Devolution) paint a picture of what very likely is going on behind the scenes. The military via the Law Of War Manual regards the current "administration" as an occupying force; and the Devolution series is a "continuity of government" policy that was set up by Pres. Trump well before the 2020 election.

Seems weird that a Democrat would be popular even with Republicans... maybe that's just my generation showing, though...
