I was in Balad till we moved ops to Spicher/Tikrit. In Balad I was in trailers down by burn pit. Nasty!!

Ewww, yeah, it stunk down there literally right? They had fantastic amenities at Balad though. Four great difacs, gym, pool, Theatre, American fast food. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to be stationed.

It was that 👍🏽 The base in Tikrit, Spicher was pretty cool tho. Awesome DFAC. Sprawling area…we would launch our plane then go 4-wheeling in the back country. I loved the anti-mortar (Navy) radar-guided Phalanx system at Balad tho. Seen it shoot down many a mortar 👍🏽
