I used to do this at Costco, but my spouse doesn’t like the attention. I love doing this at other stores though. They have no idea how to react.

I believe at wholesale clubs, you signed something that said you agree to having the receipt checked as part of the membership.

At other stores you entered into no such agreement. One you pay for it, it is yours, just like the shoes on your feet you came in with. Fry’s Electronics tried that shit on me years ago and I just walked on out. I haven’t seen Best Buy do it in years.
