I still use one of these every day. It looks a bit diffrent but basically you put a long cloth rolled up into the lower compartment, it then feeds back up into the top and starts another roll which is the dirty end. Its essentially how a cassette tape works except you wipe your wet hands on it. You never use the dirty parts and it gets replaced with a new roll when the clean parts run out.
