Merry Christmas frens.
Each day between now and New Years Eve, I will be creating two threads, One will be for a secular favorite, and one for a holy carol. I will title each thread with name of the song, and link in the first post, what I consider to be a fantastic version of that specific song.
Today's Secular Favorite is:
You're a Mean One Mr Grinch by Small Town Titans
Please post a link to your favorite version of this song as a reply.
Please post your suggestions for future songs in this project HERE
Also if you wanna get into alesana you gotta know they write concept albums. So like their first album is mostly Greek mythology themed with a Mary Shelley's Frankenstein song thrown in there called "alchemy sounded good at the time". Second album is Grimms fairytale themed, then they have the Annabel trilogy albums which is their own story they made (I have a signed copy of the book lol. It's actually a really good book). 1/3 is Edgar Allan Poe inspired, 2/3 is heavily inspired by Dante's inferno, and 3/3 throws a plot twist and is inspired by a wrinkle in time. Overall it's a fascinating story and once you know the story, the Annabel trilogy becomes a masterpiece. As you can tell, they read a lot lol
https://youtu.be/Q1OgDVHFj8k "Tilting the hourglass" - alesana This is their favorite song to play live... And boy does it show! This song was amazing live!
For some reason they're easy to miss! I discovered them on iheart radio back in the day. All great bands! I've been listening to born of Osiris lately. So good.....
Their song "a forbidden dance" is super groovy and jazzy. Makes me tap my foot lol. And they sound exactly the same live. Truly artists of the genre imo. But I'm biased lol. Lemme know what you think of them!! Each album has its own distinct sound too
