Maybe it's just me but the normies I've interacted with don't think it's a big deal to get a shot every few months...it's not doing anything to wake them up. They all think this is entirely normal and acceptable

Thank you for noticing this. It’s a pet peeve of mine to see spurt drivers accelerate towards a braking situation and then just have to brake harder.
Additional costs: extra fuel consumption, extra exhaust emissions, extra wear and tear on engine, extra wear of brakes, extra chance of damaging accident, extra arms-race stress on other drivers in adjacent lanes.
Addition benefits of spurt driving: none, since they still have to wait for the braking situation, they aren’t saving any travel time
Not true. My wife has an IQ of at least 135. It has nothing to do with intelligence. It's some form of mass hypnosis leading to cognitive dissonance and I don't know what it will take to make them snap out of it.
My take on it is that many people have been conditioned and taught to trust authority / experts without question. And this is playing out exactly that way
That is exactly the issue at hand. I was always a respectful kid and remain a respectful adult, but I never blindly trusted ANY authority figure. I used to correct my teachers when they were wrong for crying out loud (and they actually were. They didn’t know how to handle me 😆)
