TLDW: Omicron's nearest evolutionary cousin is from way back in March of 2020. This means it did not evolve recently. If it did evolve earlier but did not spread, then it must have been in a controlled environment; a lab. If it was confined in a lab, then it was created there. If it was created in a lab and is infecting people now, then it was likely released.
The lingering question: If it was designed in a lab, and its characteristics are mild symptoms, high infection rates among all people, then who would design such a virus? And why would they release it now?
One of the key features of this apparent 5th evolution is that instead of attacking deep down in the human lungs (you can thank the mice that had the humanised lung tissue experiment done on them before the CV was constructed in UNC/WIV) it mainly attaches higher up in the throat and back of the mouth, which leads to less severe outcomes, or as we used to call it "a cold".
Thank you for the synopsis! No way a person can even watch a small percentage of the videos posted daily.
So a month after the SOTU address when Trump said "We're watching this very closely."
