In Scripture, the rock is Jesus Christ, not Peter.
He explicitly made the decision to trust in twelve flawed men. Those men then imitated Christ and sent fourth men just as Christ sent them.
Spreading the gospel and in a sense sharing Christ himself was the mission. To accomplish this Jesus didn't write a book. He wrote nothing in stone. Instead he wrote on the hearts of men.
One exception: He selected Judas, but knew that he was the "son of perdition", where his heart was and even that he was stealing from the collective disciple's ministry purse.
Judas was selected to do what he did.
it could be said that Judas in his own way helped spread the gospel
What we know for sure: Judas definitely spread his guts on the ground after his body fell from where he hung himself.
No argument there. It is the discipleship modeled, then, and the one we are directed to follow today:
And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. (2 Timothy 2:2)
In regards to the written books, the Bible, though:
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter: 1:21)
The body is the temple, built from the foundation of Christ. Simple enough.
The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, per Scripture, but that is a separate and distinct truth from the reality that the church is the Bride of Christ and the Church Age is how God is interacting with the world given Israel's sin of stubborn rejection of Jesus Christ.
Jesus literally renamed Simon Bar Jonah to Kephr or Petra, another word for...ROCK.
The "rock" (not the meaning he applied here):
