Hillary was the nail in the coffin.

You, uh, nailed it right there. No reason to protect the 2016 so Trump's win couldn't be stolen if all they had to do was let the "inevitable" President Hillary ascend the throne. [Yeah, OK, but that's how SHE saw the Presidency, I'm sure]
