I was surprised to find that not to be the case. They retired a particular PCR test because identified covid and not both covid and the flu. There are still other PCR tests, including the replacement which tests for both at once.
Not that I believe that PCR tests are accurate, but someone took the CDC announcement and changed it up.
PCR tests were never supposed to be used for viral diagnosis. The inventor, Kerry Mullis, said so. PCR is a lab tool used to multiply whatever material the scientist is studying. It is NOT a diagnostic tool.
That user isn’t saying PCR is a legit testing method. The previous comment was that the CDC gave up and surrendered the issue… which isn’t remotely true. They’re going to keep using PCR as if it allows for accurate tests.
