I'm not sure about your reasoning with fast and furious and Hollywood. Movies take years to produce and it is a sequel that brings in tons of cash to the machine.

They don't just drop a sequel when "oh shit people are talking about operation fast and furious, drop a sequel STAT!"

They are mindless action films with shiny fancy cars and high speed chases + explosions. That's a guaranteed hit with general population, so they co tinge to crank them out.
