I wasn't a hippie, even though I owned some double-knit bell bottoms and colorful shirts with large collars. I still have one of those wide ties that will cover most of a shirt front. I did visit the head shop a lot, as there was interesting stuff and young women.
I never used any mind-altering substance, as I knew it was a special time, and I wanted to remember every second of it. I have thousands of stories.
Very cool, they were special times and we grew up witnessing a lot. I was surrounded with it, but as I grew older I bonded less and less with it all. My Father was Conservative and Mom liberal so that was an education in itself. Hated College cuz of liberals, quit & went in USAF. Found my future.
Being an Aspie is ultimately why I quit college. I just didn't fit in at the drinking capital of the world, UNC at Chapel Hill, NC, which had the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in the world.
Everyone in my family was conservative.
I didn't qualify for the military. So I started at the bottom of the job market and worked my way up. Then I got tired of micromanaging by ignoramuses and went Galt on them. I've been happy ever since. I'd be happier if I had more money, but that's how it goes.
We cope with each life’s decision as it’s presented to us. Do-overs are a fantasy excersize in futility. My daughter had a full-boat scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill and quit cuz “it wasn’t challenging and I didn’t like their career molds”. She’s a successful businesswoman now and we’re very proud. We weren’t WHEN SHE PULLED THAT SHIT THO?!! Aint life grand?!!
Phrack...there's a few memories. I was a 70's hippie if I remember correctly? 😂. But always loved computer science.
