Even a small plane that tops out at 80-100 MPH only takes roughly 2 min to travel 1.4 miles. It takes 2 min just for the pilot to get seated in his jet to intercept a plane and enforce this. I'm unimpressed.
Don't forget, this is 2,500 ft UP. If you are above that height you can fly over it.
A light plane at 3000ft can overfly Windsor, and if it was a few hundred feet away (ground distance) and decided to dive, it would take about 10 seconds to hit the ground (guesstimate).
If something gets to 2,500 ft there's nothing that could intercept it after that.
Ever seen a US navy phalanx? Or wall of lead? I'd bet they could intercept.....
Whatever it is will still come down on top of you :) Plus I don't think they have a US Navy Phalanx at Windsor - I could be wrong though :p
True, but I would assume, similar to the Whitehouse that Windsor palace has anti aircraft defenses.
Also 2500 ft is pretty low. Seems weird to scramble jets for something that low.
They mention drones too. Wonder if they are trying to prevent drone spying because the queen is already dead
I assumed it was to prevent surveillance drones.
