Keep in mind Epstein’s operation was based on grabbing up and coming celebrities. O’Connor was massively successful in the late 80s early 90s and Epstein was already well established by this point. O’Connor was definitely exposed to this.
At the time I was appalled by her actions, but with my upbringing as a Catholic my view of the church was always skeptical. I’ve said it before on this forum - I had a friend in school who was molested when we were in the 5th grade, back in the early 1980s. It never made the news because the LA Archdiocese immediately paid the family off and relocated the priest as if nothing ever happened. I was still blind to the corruption - because we are taught - beaten into believe that we are supposed to forgive those who do harm, including priests. Fuck that and fuck the Catholic Church. I owe Sinead an apology. She was telling us the quiet part out loud.
