The article clearly states you need the sub fee to start the car using either the internet OR your fob key. So the fact the above nonsense is top comment is probably a worse indicator of what happens on this site all too often.
Did you read the headline? It states that you have to pay a subscription fee to drive your own vehicle meaning that someone else can turn on and shut off your vehicle remotely which isn't a good thing to begin with, it's also giving more control over to someone else... This article means you have to pay them but they still have access to turning your car on and off from elsewhere.
If we're talking about giving the ability to turn off cars to corporations then I agree that is not a car I want to own, but I'm having trouble seeing how charging for a feature which you do not need to drive or own a car coincides with the WEF's plan to remove private ownership entirely.
You're rude and insulting=you're rude and insulting.I was actually backing you up in my first post, but I also was pointing out the thinking behind this.
If you don't think that others having remote access to your vehicle and you paying them to do it is not a good thing Idk what to tell you.
Subscription car service and that’s such a poorly written article I’m still not sure the above snarky comment is correct.
“ Unless they read the fine print, however, owners may not have known that the key fob method was also part of the Remote Connect subscription. Toyota confirmed to The Drive that you'll need a paid subscription on every 2018 and newer Toyota model to use the function.”
Sounds to me you can’t use the remote start on the pocket keys without the subscription.
That happens all too often on this site people don't actually read the article, just the headline.

you're insane = It's only about remotely starting your vehicle from a greater distance than your FOB can
