In middle school, my buddy and I had this science teacher who showed us a literal black box that “magically” turned water a different color. It seems very likely we guessed how it worked quickly, because she never told us how it actually worked inside. And ultimately I think that was the point - to make us question even simple looking things, and never just “trust the science” blindly. Trust and verify!

You can just tell who is in this cult because usually they literally project that they worship science.
