Fort Riley, Kansas.

The 'official' story is giant manure piles were burning and the wind shifted and engulfed the local town and area in manure smoke.

There was also a vaccination program going on nearby at Fort Riley.

I know which version I believe and I believe I know why Kansas is never mentioned with the Spanish Flu in schools where I grew up.
