Trying to find a better source:
"Air Force Two" is the call sign for any Air Force aircraft carrying the vice president, who is usually found in a Boeing C-32. For security reasons, the vice president and the president never fly on the same plane together

I conducted some searches too and what I found is that it's a pretty serious breach in protocol.
Exactly. It shouldn't be done, but not fully a law. Very confusing.
Yet, this is from team mandate. Laws, protocols, or lives don't matter to them. Business as usual.
I guess not always and not law.

Although it’s mostly for administrative reasons (the VP has a busy schedule, too), the President and VP are not generally kept in close proximity to each other for extended periods of time for reasons of security and continuity of government.
God thing they don't actually have AF1 or 2
If they fly together does the call-sign then become AF-1/2 ?
