I heard it was discovered by accident and they just found it had certain effects so decided to sell it as a medicine. Always been suspicious of paracetamol. Doctors often wave people away saying "Take a paracetamol". Maybe it's an in-joke and they progressively kill thousands of people every year, after a suitable delay of course.
