It is widely believed that the thumbs up gesture originates from the gladiatorial fights of ancient Rome, in which the destiny of a losing gladiator was decided by the crowd. Thumbs up, he lived, thumbs down -he died.
Hypothesis: Are the ones he gives a thumbs up with the ones who were bad but are now working with White Hats after a "gladiatorial" challenge by defeating another cabal agent?
Need some eyes on this one!
Yes we accept that the thumbs up meant lives, but that is more a construct or OUR current use of the hand signal, not theirs.
Actually in the time of the coliseum games, the signal meant just the opposite.
Thumbs up meant 'send his soul to the gods above'. and thumbs down meant 'leave his soul here on earth'.
FWIW
It's a satire piece, but let's entertain the notion for a moment:

Complaining that the NFL's efforts to protect its players has made the sport boring and unsuitable for satisfying the blood lust of Americans, he has promised to bring back Gladiator battles if elected. Trump promised, "The NFL has gone soft like America. In view of the Whitehouse, I will build the greatest colosseum the world has ever seen, and on those sands I will provide our once great country with the blood sports they deserve."
Trump said the prison at Guantanamo Bay will be turned into a gladiator training facility, providing ample fighters for the new colosseum. Other blood sports will include deadly chariot races and throwing Mexicans to lions. Trump will sit in judgement of the gladiator battles, deciding the fate of vanquished fighters with a thumbs up or thumbs down. Trump indicated, "I don't expect to issue too many thumbs up...I don't like losers."
When asked about Trump's criticism of his league, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell replied, "The safety of our players is our number one concern, at least until that time that our ratings slip. If that ever transpires, we can revisit this issue."

Look at this picture:
How could I do something that would in some way, associate myself with these heartless ass clowns? It was bad enough when it was just Trump doling out stumpy thumbs up, but now it’s become “his thing.”
The only reason everyone behind Trump is giving a thumbs up is because he is giving a thumbs up and someone in the White House has decided that the thumbs up is now his signature move. I’m surprised other people are giving double thumbs up, though. I thought the rule was Trump gets two, everyone else gets one. Or maybe that only applies to ice cream scoops? Good Lord we’re doomed.
