How many, say, engine failures or catastrophic failures like a wing being blown off have you experienced, and how many times did you land in a lake during these situations? In what models of planes did you do this in? Were you assisted by a co-pilot?

I'm not saying that the kid shouldn't go out and have fun or acquire new skills, but to act like dangerous people don't have it out for him and that flying is a particularly safe thing to do is also wrong.
