Just because it employs lots of people doesn't mean that its an industry worthy of being saved. Like 20% of truckers today are immigrants which to me shows Americans don't really wan't the career. Its not like it will be phased out overnight as it would probably take 10-15 years to move over current logistics to something that can support autonomous vehicles.
