It is debatable how much of a computer scientist he really is. He basically just bought an OS and adapted it. First by himself, but by version 2.0, I do not think he was actually more than just the CEO of Microsoft.

Anyhow, it does make sense for him to merge these topics. I am also pretty sure he is a psychopath with a god-complex and heavily invested in the cult of "Humanity is cancer".
