A land can't possess an idea, but its people can and DO possess a Vision! WE possess and will never relinquish the Vision "that a government of the people, by the people and for the people shall not perish from the Earth"!
This cannot truly exist with corporations maintaining person hood. The Republic was established to maintain the corporation and trade abroad and that is how they we able to collect taxes (tariffs). See interstate commerce. They were also charged with setting the coin which they abandoned to the Federal Reserve Bank. It wasn't expected to pay well as it was considered a service to their fellow man which is what man ought to do.
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness include many topics that have been made to be illegal for the sake of job creation in the lawyer section. This was done by people, though I agree that they were not "for" the people but they sure fooled me!
