Semi's need humans driving them. This crap about electric self driving semis is absurd. How many times have you seen a truck driver negotiate a difficult turn, even running over a curb without destroying a sign or two. Who's putting the snow chains on mid trip? What happens when a hydraulic hose or an air hose bursts mid trip? Blown tires? What about an actual accident?
I drive a "full self driving" Tesla. They aren't taking anybody's job. They barely work as hands free cruise control, its not close to replacing a driver. Likec10 year's is being generous
Ya my cousin has a "full self driving model 3". Most it can do is pick him up from the front of the store from the parking lot. Cool trick but definitely not replacing drivers anytime soon
That's called "Summon." Self-driving is basically cruise control that also steers, stops and changes lanes on its' own. "Summon" is where the car follows the keyfob.
The day an AI semi can navigate Canadian mountain highways without crash and burn results is the same day aliens welcome us into the Federation. Its about as hard as warp drive

Good lord people, wake the fuck up.

The day an AI can replicate the ground flight depicted in Flight of the Old Dog will occur before we get a self-driving truck.
