They are 4 types of extinguishers ( in Canada, anyway ) and they are for different types of fires.
Class A extinguishers will put out fires in ordinary combustibles such as wood and paper
Class B extinguishers are for use on flammable liquids like grease, gasoline and oil
Class C extinguishers are suitable for use only on electrically energized fires
Class D extinguishers are designed for use on flammable metals
He most likely used gasoline. They most likely had the standard Class A extinguisher on hand. I see this a LOT on kaotic.com
It's one thing I'm fascinated with ( in a way ) is why people light themselves on fire. To endure the worst pain you could ever imagine to make a statement... just floors me people do this to themselves.
What I'm about ti say is very gross, but it's the truth.
You usually don't actually burn to death. Your body is 2/3 liquid. As you burn, your skin cracks and opens, and liquid starts coming out and quells the fire. This is why 95%+ these folks die in hospital from infection, after days of the most agonizing pain you could ever image.
I have first hand ( kind of experience in this education ). As a kid, I liked to play with fire. My mom ( working nurse at the time ) and my uncle ( cop ) gave me a tour of the burn unit and I got to see first hand, skin grafting and the iodine baths for cleaning.
I recall reading about those Vietnamese monks protesring their govt. same methods. Here they sat, burning in flames and not a peep from them.
They died silently burning. Heartbreaking.
good post, even better name lol. We went through this when we were first time homeowners and no one told us there was a difference. So there we were for a few years (no accidents thank goodness) with what looked like a perfectly fine fire extinguisher in the kitchen, but it would have done NOTHING should we have had a grease fire. The more you know...

The original mainstream image, every part of that monk burned but his heart was left relatively intact. Poetic.
