But I can go to my local farmer/butcher, or pay a laborer with the right metal. He can spend that metal to buy firewood or heading oil. Can you do that with crypto? Send it via Bluetooth and charge your device with solar I guess?

I never said you should not to have anything to barter with in an apocalypse. I'm saying crypto can protect you from theft and government overreach where physical items cannot.

Which is more prevalent? An apocalypse or a greedy government?
