Heh then I guess my kid is an outlier here. I grew up on Windows then switched over to Linux about 10 years ago and I've been teaching my kid how to use Linux. They still have not used Windows yet, not even at school (school uses chromebook).
I honestly think people should start using Linux when they are learning about computers and operating systems because Linux is almost the same as Windows, in terms of GUI and file/folder(directory) structure.
The only difference is that with Linux, you can navigate around everything from the terminal (command line for Windows). Yes I'm aware that you can do that with Windows but there are restrictions as well as powershell, which requires a lot of memorizing and looking up online. Heck, you can even install Powershell on Linux!
This is what got me about codemonkey, he couldn’t navigate the gui and file/folder structure of windows. It wasn’t the command prompt/terminal or powershell that he struggled with, it was the basic navigation
Ah I see, then that's BS. Maybe he was nervous or something like that but yeah, he should be able to navigate just fine. I mean the short cuts are literally almost the same as it's universal across OSes (the keys used may be different like OS X/Mac OS) and he should be using the search function if he's stuck at one point...
Ah well.
