I'm a little skeptical of these new images, simply for how clear and detailed they are. Almost seems too good to be true.
I also don't really understand why the scientist had to purchase a gaming laptop for "better graphics", aren't these just images from a microscope?
That said, these images look otherworldly. I've never seen images with this much detail of the structures that form within the vaccines. If these images are real, God help us all.
I guess to process the images from the microscope in real time. The microscope may be controlled and views through the computer and a basic computer may not have the graphic processing power to do so.
I know there are telescopes that hook up to laptops for this very reason.

Although a gaming GPU is different than a workstation GPU, which would generally perform better in this sort of task, and it's not even close.
