I'm not sure they have zero options. As someone who has seen several of these types of demonstrations living overseas, there is a standard escalation. First, non lethal weapons for "riot control". When that doesn't work, they place active shooters with live ammunition in the crowd. These false flag shooters assassinate a few policeman and/or soldiers. The government then declares the area a "live fire zone" and it becomes an active war zone. The government blames the terrorist elements in the crowd. Citizens will try and get the word out that everything is peaceful and it's a fraud, but all the government owned media will simply press the propaganda that everyone in the area are terrorist sympathizers. Unfortunately, people generally don't want to be slaughtered for a cause. At this point they either fight back in kind and escalate or leave. If they can not find Canadians willing to fire on other Canadians, they can ask for UN troops to help "restore order." Will it work? It has in other countries. Just don't think this will just end without the government trying to turn this into a kinetic civil war. Personally, I don't think we are at the precipice until it has progressed to this level.
