Plot twist: the norms suddenly lurch awake and try to deal with these tyrants Gaddafi-style... BUT the wise (and righteously indignant) patriots calm them down and insist on fair trials and due process. With plenty of life sentences and death penalties as needed.

If the masses suddenly wake up to the truth and angrily lose all self control, we - who already processed and came to terms with reality ages ago - may be the only thing keeping them from committing mass murder in reprisal.
