'shooting the Moon' is not meant to suggest futile endeavour, as was the traditional interpretation of the phrase, but rather to suggest the promise of astronomical success following the appropriate effort.

Does this "moonshot" in the current times suggest we are about to succeed in the most terrible endeavour ever? namely, the ultimate destruction of our long time enemy?
