The founder of Dubai, Sheik Rashid, was asked about the future of his country, and he replied, "My grandfather rode a camel, my father rode a camel, I ride a Mercedes, my son rides a Land Rover, and my grandson is going to ride a Land Rover, but my great-grandson is going to have to ride a camel again.β
Why is that, he was asked.
And his reply was, βHard times create strong men, strong men create easy times. Easy times create weak men, weak men create difficult times. Many will not understand it, but you have to raise warriors, not parasites. And add to that the historical reality that all great empires...the Persians, the Trojans, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, and in later years, the British...all rose and perished within 240 years. They were not conquered by external enemies; they rotted from within.
America has now passed that 240-year mark, and the rot is starting to be visible and is accelerating. We are past the Mercedes and Land Rover years. The camels are on the horizon.
The greatest generation consisted of 18-year-old kids storming the beaches at Normandy. And now, two generations later, some 18-year-old kids want to hide in safe rooms when they hear words that hurt their feelings. They also want free stuff from the government because they think they are entitled to it.β
What's it say about humans that we must repeat the same cycles over and over?
How about avoiding the hard times to make hard men, cycle?
I know, too much to ask of us. We're clearly defective.
Electrons, the planets, the arms of the galaxy, plants, animals, humans.
Everything's rotating/spinning/going in circles.
The Ouroboros, eating its own tail. The cycle of samsara (birth, life, death, rebirth). The bible (the last shall be first and the first shall be last) . The Mayan long count calender, which didn't signify the end of the world but just starts a new age.
Politics, society, civilization. Behavior. Patterns of abuse and violence. Strong men, good times, weak men, bad times. Debt, motivation, prosperity, apathy.
We're all just going in circles.
It's the natural order of things.
We strive to rise above the natural order of the physical, animal realm. To do more. To BE more.
It's never easy. But the rewards are bountiful.
Bottom line, we're consciousness retards...
That's the root of the issue. Most don't know to strive for 4D. And that's everyone's objective whether they know it or not.
Good post!
I agree with your interpretation; however, I also see a second meaning or an additional layer. The world started as God's kingdom, but had been turned over to the temptations of Satan after the fall of man. At the time of the sermon in Matthew, the world was (and still is) in a fallen state. I see it as Jesus reassuring people that in reference to his kingdom, it will come full circle and be reestablished again. A very slow circle, but a circle nonetheless. In doctrines that don't teach original sin man follows the same cycle. Born innocent, sin, and a return to a state of innocence through repentance.
Not to suggest Jesus was telling us he'd 'circle back' to the topic.π
And not all cycles are negative. They're just natural. Without seasons, crops wouldn't grow. Without electron orbitals, chemistry wouldn't work. Everything goes in cycles. It's up to us to embrace the good ones and recognize and avoid the bad.
Good stuff.
