Just gone on RSOE the Hungary based disaster database.

This popped up showing a severe storm in Antarctica with wind speeds of 600 knots.

Yeah very likely a sensor malfunction since uh... that speed would literally obliterate the sensor...

I wonder how we know the speed a of nuclear blast, which is faster than the speed of sound.

Recorders with black boxes or something that can be measured after an event.

This is measuring in real time. But I x-checked Windy.com and it did not agree.

I vote sensor malfunction too. There appear to be some high winds going on in Russia, per this site, at 190+ mph.
