I went from an early adopter to a late adapter with all 'things' a long time ago. I still never bought into Telegram, Twitter, Facebook or any other platform unless I am able to do it anonymously. I don't have a 'smart' (tracking) phone and never will.
Truth Social might be a good thing for many, but I'm the private individual having that long driveway with an address not clearly posted and there's a sign in the front saying -- 'Private Property Trespassers will be Prosecuted'.
You were the smart one. I got hacked because of Fakebook. They hacked my phone and then hacked into my tv via an app I believe. I was threatened, they threatened my nephew. Said they would turn him into a school shooter. They were manipulating a few people I follow on Fakebook. Dan Bongino, Rob Smith and a local newscaster. It was very frightening.
Any electronic device called 'Smart' is a spy device. Years ago, we were surprised by the difficulty of finding a non-Smart Flat Screen TV. We recognized even then of the threat Smart TVs and other appliances presented.
What's most interesting to me is study after study confirm the happiest families have no TV in their households. Other studies show TV actually makes people less intelligent and not more intelligent. We took this to heart and have all but abandoned television programming.
VPNs provide a layer of privacy, and for general purposes this is 'good enough'. Let's not kid ourselves though. All electronic communication is never secure. Some forms of communication are more secure than others. All transmitting/receiver forms tend to be the worst. Even encrypted, its pretty much a ruse because government demands from the company the keys for a back door.
The best security is no electronics. Conversations in a SCIF style setting. It's all about spying. Unfortunately, privacy has suffered immensely as a result.

My sympathy to your awful experience.

Thank you. Since I have awakened, I too watch very little tv and I am happier.
Hope you’re on a VPN.

Yep. Very familiar. Nothing is private.
