I thought surely any Youtuber would know how to download Youtube videos for their own personal backups. It should not matter what any piece of shit government criminal says to do. If the Canadian government were able to illegally go after someone for having videos online they don't want seen then surely those videos could be uploaded elsewhere by other people.
Part of it still boils down to everyone's own selfish greed by wanting their content to be for their profit only. Sure they might have a rough time making less money or even no money from Youtube but if anyone is solely dependent on Youtube as a source of income then they're a fucking idiot.
Anyone that places 100% of their trust in any employer or business to maintain an income is really fucking up. I don't care if it's your little mom n pop local store. Businesses always put the business first and foremost because that is how a business is supposed to function. A Youtuber is a Youtube employee in the sense that they earn money from Youtube directly.
If I ever got more into streaming or making videos, I would use every available platform. I would use Youtube, Rumble, Bitchue, Oddysee, Banned.video, Twitter, Facebook, Gab, any any others I didn't think to mention. I would also create my own website with my own methods of sharing video. You don't have to have your own server farm and you don't have to pay for servers.
People have to be willing to spend some of that money they make or shut the fuck up about places like Youtube or government censoring them. One good alternative for backing up and sharing video without the need for servers would be torrents. If someone doesn't know how to download or seed torrents then maybe they should learn.
Torrents gets a bad reputation for the amount of pirated content being shared but it's actual purpose was to share content between people without the need for centralized servers. It doesn't matter what any government says even in the worst countries. You upload your video once and let the people of the world seed it forever.
If people claim bandwidth limits then use some of that stupid Youtube money to have more bandwidth, more data. If someone isn't willing to put in the time and little bit of money then they have no right to complain about big bad government fucking them over. Government is crooked as crooked gets but there are simply many ways to get past that and 100% legally.
The only legal crime regarding torrents is sharing copyrighted materials but if it's content you created yourself then there is no copyright bullshit to deal with. This is just people making more excuses for not doing more. People wants to just do their shit on Youtube and cry when Youtube or government doesn't let them do what they want to do on Youtube.
It doesn't matter that Youtube is the most popular platform for sharing video. Even if there were no government censorship and even if Youtube never censored, it's simply just the smart thing to do to have as many alternatives as you possibly can and as many methods of backing up your content as you can have.
I'm not a Youtuber but I like taking video and pictures of my travels, especially of nature, parks, forests, oceans, beaches, etc. I back up my shit on multiple external drives and usb flash drives. I back up my shit on multiple cloud storage services. I don't do it because it could be taken down because it never would as it's just mostly videos and pictures of nature type things but I do it so that I'll always have all of it even if something happened to any hard drives or any of the cloud storage services etc.
People need to stop whining and crying to the internet on the internet and start doing more to fix their situations. If this guy is concerned about censorship then he should take steps to preserve all of his content and find ways to distribute it.
