better to have a water maker, portable solar panels, CB and UHF radios.

Good idea. But for those who don't have the money for those things, get a new plastic trash can to collect water from somewhere clean or your roof, put in a wood burning stove or create a stove of some type along with candles and kerosene lamps, and an emergency radio or lots of batteries for a back up radio. All suggestions for this list are welcome. Amen
