Trudeau accomplished what he wanted to do which was to create fear. A lot of people were afraid of having their vehicles taken, insurance canceled, jobs lost, bank accounts frozen, homes lost. Moving forward it will be more difficult to have enough support because people are simply too cowardly or are unwilling to sacrifice anything to achieve a goal.
Trudeau knew if the senate put a stop to it that he might be at risk of a no confidence vote so he's just saving his own ass temporarily. It's hard to win against criminal governments when people are unwilling to meet violence with violence because then they become punching bags for the thugs pretending to be police.
It's hard to win again criminal governments when people are unwilling to sacrifice even their free time away from work to be heard. Instead people wait until Saturdays. If people are not willing to risk sacrificing anything then they don't deserve the freedoms they seek if they refuse to help.
People like to talk but still not take part when needed. People like to benefit from the efforts of others while those out there are who is risking everything. The weekend cheerleaders are risking nothing but they will benefit way more than those that are actually fighting for everyone's freedoms.
It's a fucked up thing but society has always been this way. I can understand staying home when there's a war that the military has to fight but anyone can get off their couch and go protest. Most people only work 8 hours per day which leaves 8 hours to sleep and 8 hours of free time. Maybe 7 hours of free time when travel time is included to and from work.
Either way people have several hours every single day but yet they choose to sit at home and pretend to care. I've seen these types of useless ass people far too often over the years, especially when I used to work a job before becoming my own boss. I've seen many times over the years people half ass working while others pick up the slack to ensure work gets done.
The protesting is no different. Those same useless people want to stay home and let everyone else risk things. That is why governments have been able to gain so much power especially with covid because so many people prefer to stay home and not take part in the fight. They are useless, sorry, lazy as fuck but those of us actually fighting the fight seem to still be willing to do it for the benefit of all even those undeserving.
I've been in contact is politicians in FL many times throughout the decades, always have. I've had local level politicians help me out with different things throughout the years also. People have to give a shit to know who represents their city, their county, their district, their state, and contact them. They do respond and they do listen but for them to be able to listen, people have to reach out to them.
Protesting is one method of being heard but we have to be part of our communities as well, especially politically. We don't have to become a politician but we can contact politicians and be heard. Politicians have far more reach and resources. Everyone pretending to do something but in reality just sits at home night after night will not help us achieve anything.
I'm not against all of the fake people that talk like they do something when in reality they don't but just because I'm not against them does not mean I won't speak my mind about how I feel about them. Things might be different in Canada but here in the USA, a lot can be done but so few actually put forth the effort.
People like Trudeau are only able to do things they do because of all the people pretending to care but in reality sit at home only giving a shit about improving their own lives. We might want the same things but not enough people help out which makes it all much more difficult.
Point taken bud. But being a 9-6 guy myself, I understand when you just can’t leave work to go and protest. You will lose your job and your living. People depend on you, what do you do then? How do you provide for them if you don’t have an income? I understand the need for everyday joes to get involved, but it truly is easier said than done. I salute those who are able and willing to go and speak up and risk their livelihoods and possibly jail time, but I can’t judge those who share the same vision, but are unable to quit their jobs and protest.
You make some good points, but not everyone can be on the front-line and each should contribute as best they can, sending letters, posting memes, stand-up demonstrators, sending funds to help. keeping the home fires burning, encouraging others, bringing legal claims, etc.... in whatever ways we are blessed.
I was mostly referring to people that will only come out to a protest on a Saturday and from what I've seen that's only every few months on average. Too many people seem to believe protests need to be in DC or make national or worldwide headlines but that is not needed at all. People can protest at 7 or 8pm for a couple of hours after work without losing any sleep and it still be legally done.
You only need a permit to protest if you intend to walk in the streets but you can protest from sidewalks anytime without permits. When done right, the permits are more so so that police can be present to maintain the peace from counter protests of a protest. If we had local and state level support from politicians then they would be able to remove people like Biden and members of congress or senate if needed.
People seem to be too focused on the fool at the top. Even when Trump was in DC, he didn't have all that much power compared to congress and senate and even governors. We need to push local politicians to do their jobs and that is how things can be accomplished peacefully. Washington DC no longer represents the USA except for the politicians that spend 50 years mooching off of our tax dollars.
DC should really be turned into a big museum one day because it's just been ruined beyond repair by corrupt politicians. I can't speak for people elsewhere but I drive by plenty of bars in the evening where people seem to have enough time away from work to waste money getting drunk on weekdays. I know too many people that just work and go home and lounge and don't give a shit about things.
They believe it will work itself out over time or simply don't care because they have enough money to not suffer from inflation. People that claim they want something done should simply get out there and be heard. Unless someone is a hermit and doesn't know anyone then they should be able to put together small protests locally.
With local support then it's much easier to deal with things on a national level. Without local support then criminals in DC can do whatever they want because the good people in politics in DC do not have enough people to vote on anything. We can say democrats cheat to win elections, maybe they do but they have the majority in congress and senate because people choose to sit at home and not get more active locally.
It doesn't require anything but an hour or two here and there of time sacrificed. The big protests in DC or like in Ottawa may have looked good on video but ultimately were a waste of time because things need to be done on local levels. People can make use of memes, sending letters, etc locally too. Local politicians and local police all have active twitter and facebook accounts and actually do read them and respond.
If it's always us against them, then we're doomed to never get complete freedom without another war with a lot of lives lost needlessly. I do my part locally but I wouldn't go to DC even if I were paid to go. It's a shame that a place with so much history is a place I'd never willingly ever visit.
People also need to forget about Trump and forget about who is president because that's not what's important and never has been. The states can tell the federal government what to do if the states had the majority of like minded people running them. I don't post on here often now days but my posts are usually pretty long lol.
Life is great here for me in FL but I still am in contact with local politicians because we have to stay in contact with them. We have to make sure they're doing the job they were elected to do and it doesn't matter if they're democrat or republican, we can still contact them anytime.
If the day comes when enough states are working together then it would be easy enough to fix the federal government but until then things like Jan6 or Ottawa will forever be repeated where peaceful protestors are beaten, abused, insulted, arrested, and sometimes even murdered.
A big protest of a million people in DC is good for optics, sure it looks good but it ultimately accomplishes nothing other than give people something to feel good about. As long as politicians are not kept under control then they will forever continue doing things that are not in our best interest.

Why don’t you tell us the kind of things that you find effective.
