This! I was glued to the tv for months on end when this happened. I smelt something off from the moment it happened. And this was before I was awake and knew anything. At heart, I love a good conspiracy theory (which most are proven true) so naturally a plane goes missing perked my tin foil hat right up! Seriously, how do you lose a plane lol. Plus, internet was available on planes in 2014. Not everyone sleeps at night.
