If true, it gives a lot more credibility to the “Putin is a white hat” theory.
I don't think he's our pal, but I do think he cares about Russia and, at least to some degree, the Russian people.
I remember when, many years ago, Putin cracked down hard on the foreign adoptions of Russian children. It's virtually impossible now to take a child out of the country unless you can prove you are its parent.
The news at the time hinted that it was just because Putin hated Americans and the West and didn't want Russian children to have a "better life" if it meant going there.
Now I understand why he really did that, and I haven't forgotten it.
So he's a Patriot that loves his country. How refreshing to see that mindset in a high-level leader.
I think he likes the American people on average.
He also cracked down on adoptions to USA by banning them. Bet you wont guess who was most pissed off about this.
