This probably makes the most sense of all the theories on Ukraine I've seen. Putin is not exactly a nice guy, and is interested in personal power 1st, with benefit to his country 2nd, and any good outcome resulting from achieving those two goals is probably only marginally considered; the good outcome for the people of the U.S. is to have the Biden crime family exposed. He, of course, would love to embarass the U.S., as a world government powerhouse, to hinder the U.S. attempts to block his ambitions.
Not that I trust anyone who has ever run the KGB, but when Putin said he doesn't need new territory, I think he has a point. He said he already has to sit in a jet for 10 hours to get from Moscow to Vladivostock.
