Well it is horrible for our environment as it’s a bad use for our very limited lithium. We need lithium to make our highest quality batteries, and recycling lithium is far harder than mining it. Using up lithium makes it rarer and more expensive. Why are we using it up to make giant car batteries when they are charged using fuel sources anyways? We need it for microelectronics where batteries are actually the only reasonable power source. The power grid cannot sustain of every person were to own an EV and charging it all at once anyways. It’s not a solution to environmental problems, it exasperates it.
I think that's a problem with batteries, not EVs...
Electrical vehicles are pretty bad for the environment, but not because of "limited lithium".
We do need to figure out better energy storage though.
What do you think powers an EV?
I know batteries power EVs. what I'm saying is that it sounds more like we have a problem with battery technology than with EVs.
Which is why we shouldn’t be manufacturing EVs right now.
