Along the political spectrum, both fascism and communism are to the left of classical liberalism (American republicanism). The far left is absolute monarchy/dictatorship. The far right is anarchy. More left = more authoritarian. More right = less authoritarian.

Fascism and communism are both forms of socialism. Fascism is national socialism. Communism is international socialism. Somehow "experts" and media have been able to con [some] Americans into believing that communism is to our left and fascism is to our right when in fact, BOTH are to our left. This is why you get idiot Democrats/leftists calling Republicans/conservatives "Nazis." They only consider the "nationalist" component but not the "socialist" component. No true Republican/conservative patriotic American would approve of socialism. And yet, here we all are, apparently Nazis. All the focus on Hitler, but seemingly nothing about Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Mao... the death count under communism dwarves that under fascism. Problem is too many laymen haven't truly studied history. Most of what they were taught in school was nonsense. What they should be taught in school isn't allowed. So alas, we have a wholly ignorant or misinformed society. Quite easy to continue to dupe such lemmings.
