Just make NOT voting a punishable crime. Charge a fine of $100 for NOT voting. 2nd offense, $1000 fine. 3rd offense, 6 months jail time. Only way to have mail in ballot, disabled, military. Most companies already pay employees to go vote, so paying people obviously doesn't work.
I agree. But until it cost the average Joe something, they have no reason to fight crowds, drive to the polls, wait in line, cast a vote, then drive back home. The communists made mail in corruption legal and drive through corruption legal. Still, not everyone voted. So, impose fines for not voting. Force them to be active in their civic duty.
Nope nope nope. You have a right to vote, but it is still your choice. Requiring people to vote just brings uninterested parties out. If they don't care, then fine. Stay home, do whatever. People that see it as a privilege or civic duty are the ones that stand in line for hours and are happy to do it.
Can't you see that having to stand in line for hours is part of the appeal of mail in voting? I enjoyed having my ballot at home, being able to do extra research on local issues on the ballot, and only taking a trip to my mail box, all on my own schedule and time frame. What's the point of standing in line for hours and hours to vote? It shouldn't be that way at all. Voting should be widely available and Easy for anyone who wants to exercise their rights. Why is the reality of the situation that even for the lower traffic primaries, people still have to wait in lines for hours in order to take 2 minutes to vote. If anything should be fixed, it should be the huge lines and wait times at a lot of polling places, so that is not a 3-5 hour process just to vote.
