That's a lie. They can be sued. What you can't do is file a frivolous lawsuit. Just like I can't sue a spoon maker for making me fat, but I can sue them if the spoon is made of lead and poisons me.

Remington paid out a large settlement to the Sandyhook victims. They were being sued, but I'm not sure of the status of the legal case. The settlement was done absent a court verdict, if I understand the term settlement.
Remington was pieced out in 2021 to multiple different companies. The largest was Vista Outdoors, which bought the largest part of Remington and the rights to the company name. Other pieces like Sierra bullets, Marlin, Tapco, Parker etc were bought by other manufacturers.
The investors in Vista Outdoors is an interesting mix of investors, quite a few are investment firms/hedge funds etc. It is amazing the number of well known anti-gun entities in this list

If the court didn't reach a verdict yet and they agreed to pay a settlement, you have to ask why. The lawsuit had a completely untenable case. They claimed that the marketing of their firearms was the crux of the issue. The problem is that the shooter in Sandyhook didn't buy the bushmaster rifle. He murdered his own mother and got into the safe for the weapons. Their court case had zero chance to win. So why would they settle? Maybe to try and set up some kind of precedent? I don't know, but it isn't a court verdict and it doesn't allow any more future lawsuits any more credence, so why do it? I'm probably not seeing the link here, maybe some of you guys can see something I don't.
